MGUS monitoring and digital test interpretation

Towards simpler, more frequent monitoring

People with MGUS need regular monitoring for changes that could indicate progression to multiple myeloma. Current monitoring involves a blood sample taken in a clinical setting and sent to a laboratory, creating practical demands for patients and healthcare services.

The Birmingham project is developing a lateral flow test to monitor monoclonal protein levels. The aim is a simpler, lower-cost route that could make more frequent checks practical. Digital Reader supports consistent interpretation and a connected result that can be reviewed alongside the wider clinical picture.
